Underwater Sestri Levante Club, member of the Italian Federation of Sport Fishing and Diving (FIPSAS) was founded in 1972 thanks to two passionate organizers: Angelo Lerici and Gianni Merisio that coalesced a group of young divers Sestresi.

Underwater Sestri Levante Club today is one of the oldest and most established of diving in Liguria, a landmark that routinely produce samples in the Fishing and Dive Safari.

Adviser and factotum of the Club has always been a supporter of both the fisheries and Dive Safari, Dr. Alessandro Marcenaro better explains the spirit of the Club: "We are not a school and we are not a diving, we are just a diverse group of enthusiasts Sea, formed mainly by free divers, fishermen and photographers, along with divers photographers. the agony and the engine of our business, particularly in spearfishing and underwater photography. Since 1974, the second Sunday of July, we organize "The day the sea floor cleaner, which in recent years has proved increasingly successful participation by divers, Liguria and Tuscany. This day is collected a large amount of trash (plastic, pieces of sunken boats, bottles, scrap metal, batteries, motor casings, gas cylinders, etc..) That is disposed of with the help of operators ecological service NU. While the divers operate at sea, many children, mothers and children make their contribution by cleaning the beach and at the end of the day, as always, cake and drinks for everyone.

 

For over thirty years we cooperate with the Municipal Administration of Sestri Levante, highlighting the problems encountered along the coast.

 

Since 1981, maintain a small aquarium Mediterranean, which can be visited free of charge at our office, every day from 8.00 am to 20.00. The aquarium has four tanks, and they live in some inhabitants of our beautiful sea including some grouper, looks, bass, bream, sail, moray eels, crabs, lobsters, crickets, hermit crabs, damsels, tanute therefore comber, mullet and drooling of different kinds.

 

Since 2003, he joined us a friendly group of divers "Baia del Silenzio Sub" and together with them and to the section of the Italian Naval League of Sestri Levante, since 2007 we have created the "bay" to monitor, understand and disseminate, via images, "our" sea.
