The Mount of Portofino with its Marine Protected Area and the park land will be the star, 2 to 5 June, of Ocean Science Arts Festival: four days of events, competitions, workshops and tours dedicated to lovers of nature and the sea.
The aim of this first edition of the Festival, organized by Sheraton Genova Hotel in collaboration with the City of Santa Margherita Ligure and Portofino's Protected Areas, is to enhance an area known more for its worldly for its extraordinary natural features.
Theatre main event will be Santa Margherita Ligure. From here, hikers will be able to explore the Mount of Portofino with expert guides in the park. The sea lovers can instead explore the 'Marine Protected Area, enrolling in immersion programs or guided kayak (open to all experiences without the requirement of certification). You can also admire the deep sea between ships with the monitor: the screen will be broadcast live video from the shootings in which divers during the dive, you can ask questions and receive answers, while a biologist will present on the surface images. You can also spend a day aboard a vessel and try to find the oldest methods of capture.
But the full program of events also includes a series of workshops that will advance the themes of the sea in relation to their scientific, cultural, artistic and gastronomic. You could for example discuss biodiversity, learn the art of knots sailors, learn to predict the weather, make papier-mache sculptures of marine animals, become aware of experts in the purchase of fish capture techniques of underwater photography and much more.
The centerpiece of the festival are two competitions: the Video-Photo Reportage and Photocontest. At first you may contribute from 1 February to making a report no longer than five minutes, using either photos, video, audio or pictures, showing "the promontory of Portofino and its excellence." The works must reach the organizers by May 15 on DVD (registration on the Festival website www.artemarescienza.it).
The second competition is a real photo competition entitled "point values of the Cape-and-shoot, which will be held on June 2 and 3 during tours on land and underwater location of interest. The winners will be rewarded with a rich prize consists of travel and technical equipment.
For kids and boys is designed Safari Kids, a sort of treasure hunt photo. Those registered will receive a card with a list of flora and fauna along the paths of the Cape. Competitors are invited to photograph them and helped by naturalist guides and experienced photographers.
School is dedicated to an art competition: students will create a work (drawing, photography, video, collage, poetry, etc.) on the sea.
In the square of Santa Margherita Ligure Genoa or at the Sheraton Hotel, organized the event, for the duration of the festival are screenings of documentaries about the sea and underwater environment.

- Video-Photo Reportage: "The promontory of Portofino and its excellences. Tigullio Gulf and the Gulf of Paradise recounted in 5 minutes"

To this end, to gather the necessary documentation to reports, the participants will visit the Portofino Promontory and the Marine Reserve in the months before the event. Using the card-services provided by the organization can take advantage of the facilities for logistics, diving, excursions at sea and ashore.

tThe audiovisual report will be developed will have access to the following ideas:

• the marine environment (Marine Protected Area of Portofino)
• the terrestrial environment (Parco di Portofino)
• sedentary and migratory bird watching on Cape
• Sustainable Fisheries (Fishing - itticultura)
• tradition (tonnarella Camogli - life as a fisherman - fish market)
• the seafaring traditions
• Sustainable Tourism

To facilitate the work of the Organization works must be accompanied by a text of no more than 5 lines, which present the contents.

The works must be submitted on DVD-VIDEO by May 15 and will be viewed by a jury composed of young university teachers and experts in the area.

During the event will be awarded the top three.

 

- Photocontest: point-values of the Cape-and-shoot

 

The photo competition entitled "point values of the Cape-and-shoot is open to all photographers equipped with digital camera and aims to stimulate the discovery of the natural features of the land and the protected marine park of Portofino. Each candidate must submit to the expiration of time provided by the organization (Thursday 2 and Friday, June 3), 3 photographs, made in the marine environment and / or land.

To mark the occasion will be identified by the marine and terrestrial location of particular tourist interest, cultural, historical, natural, normally difficult to access. The excursion program in those areas by boat and on land will be notified by February 28. Entrants can book according to their preferences, subject to availability.

• seen from the headland (photographs from a helicopter)

The photo contest will be divided into the tank in the following categories:

• SLR Digital Cameras
• Compact Digital Cameras

Registration for the Photographic Competition in Extemporaneous must be received by May 20. Entry fee € 20.

For each category will be provided on the ranking that rewards the top three.

The competitor's classification will be determined by the sum of the scores achieved by each photo submitted.

The jury will be composed by professional image, communication, graphic design and biology, land and sea which will assess the image technique, composition, originality, regardless of the environment in which they were taken.

The award ceremony will take place in the closing night of the event.
