Francesco Ricciardi was born in the mid-'70s in a small town of West Germany and later moved to Italy with his family and for a few years resides on the island of Elba, where starts to rise in him the great love for the sea and its inhabitants.

He is biologist, underwater photographer and instructor and currently works at the University of Padova.

His photographs, the main biological interest, have been exhibited at the Museum of Natural History in Milan, in an exhibition on the effects of the 2004 tsunami on coral reefs of the island of Sumatra, Indonesia.

Winner of several competitions fotosub, including The Sea in Milan, the national competition, the island of Giglio, one of the island of Elba and the Marine Genomics Europe Photo Contest.

One of his photos was chosen for the Tag input to Bunaken marine park in Indonesia.
